Tennessee Prostitution Charges & Penalties
According to TCA ยง 39-13-513, prostitution is:
"... engaging in, or offering to engage in sexual activity as a business or being an inmate in a house of prostitution or luring in a public place for the purpose of being hired to engage in sexual activity."
Prostitution is a Class B misdemeanor. However, if it is committed within 1.5 miles of a school, the penalties increase to at least 7 days of jail time and at least $1,000 in fines.
Patronizing Prostitution Charge in Tennessee
Patronizing prostitution means paying or offering to pay someone for sexual services, whether they are male or female. It is a Class B misdemeanor and carries up to 6 months of jail time and up to $500 in fines. As with prostitution charges, the penalties increase if the offense was committed within 1.5 miles of a school.
