What is a Drug Trafficking Charge?

A drug trafficking charge is where one sells marijuana, cocaine, or drugs, and under Tennessee law, while it's not specifically labeled drug trafficking, it's the sale or delivery of a controlled substance, whether it be methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, marijuana, and each one has a different range of punishment depending on the classification of the drug, whether it's a Schedule 2, such as cocaine, whether it's a Schedule 6, which is marijuana. So there's a different range of punishment for each type of drug, and it differs on the type of drug and the quantity and the amount of the drug. So the more of the drugs you have, the worse the punishment is. And also, there is the triggering factor of whether you sold or trafficked drugs or possessed drugs within 1,000 feet of a school zone because then that's when the punishment really gets severe, because that will elevate it one classification up, and that is a sentence that's served also at 100 percent.
