3 tips for avoiding arrest at Bonnaroo

The Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival is almost here again. If you are a music lover who is gearing up to attend the festival, you should keep some things in mind before you go. Your fun getaway with friends may end with you in handcuffs if you do not take some precautions.

Attendees often face arrest and criminal charges during the annual music festival. In fact, there were 37 people arrested and 277 cited at Bonnaroo in 2016. Here are some tips for avoiding arrest at Bonnaroo this year.

1. Do not possess or use illegal drugs

Law enforcement officials are always ready to make drug busts at this four-day concert. The best thing you can do to avoid facing drug charges is not taking any drugs with you or consuming them at the show. While drugs like marijuana, ecstasy, Molly and LSD may be popular at the festival, you do not want to end up behind bars.

2. Avoid getting too drunk

While it is perfectly legal to consume alcohol at Bonnaroo if you are 21 or older, you want to be mindful of your behavior. If you drink too much, your judgment may suffer, leading you to make bad decisions. If your drunkenness causes you to endanger or unreasonably aggravate other people, you may face charges for public intoxication or disorderly conduct.

3. Keep your pants on

It is understandable that music festivals get a little wild, but you do not want to deal with any sex crimes or public urination charges. While your inhibitions may be lower while you are having a good time, make sure you do not partake in any behavior that may be obscene. This means you should always use designated bathrooms and keep your clothes on.

Remember that the cops are well aware that illegal activities take place at Bonnaroo. They are on the look-out for any suspicious behavior. If you follow these three guidelines, you will reduce your chances of going to jail.

If you do get arrested at Bonnaroo, or while traveling to or from it, get help from an experienced criminal defense attorney.
