What Is the Difference Between Manslaughter and Homicide?

The differences between manslaughter and homicide are found in our criminal code. Our homicide statute calls it first-degree murder, second-degree murder, manslaughter, reckless homicide and negligent homicide. Homicide is just a generic term of murder. We look at murder by intent. First-degree murder is premeditated or felony murder. The other type of first-degree murder case is premeditated where you plan the murder, think it through, execute it.
