Are police fair to people with disabilities during traffic stops?

Many times, police officers go out of their way to be courteous and respectful to people with disabilities during traffic stops. Other times, however, ignorance, nervousness, confusion or simple apathy can cause officers to behave badly and treat people with disabilities unfairly.

What is a felony stop?

Most of us are familiar with routine traffic stops. These occur when a police officer observes a driver violating a traffic law. They are usually uneventful unless the officer finds probable cause to arrest the driver for a crime such as DUI or drug possession.

What to Do If You Are Pulled Over By the Police

Any police stop has the potential to turn violent. When an officer approaches a stopped vehicle, he or she usually does so without knowing who is in that vehicle or what the driver or passengers will do. Police officers receive training about how to conduct traffic stops and human nature tells them to be on their guard as they approach stopped vehicles. As a result, if a driver or a passenger makes a sudden move, the situation can escalate very quickly.

An App To Protect Your Rights - Before And After A DUI Arrest

You've been stopped by the police and taken to the station because they think you are over the limit. They want you to take a breath test, but taking the test could get you arrested for DUI. If you refuse to submit to testing, your driver's license will be suspended. What should you do?
