Is a Hit and Run a Felony?

Under Tennessee law we don't call it a hit and run. We call it leaving the scene of an accident. Leaving the scene of an accident can be a felony, if it involves a death. If you had an accident and someone was killed or a very serious bodily injury, it could be charged as a felony. Most, leaving a scene of an accident involves property damage and those are a misdemeanor.
