What is considered a serious misdemeanor?

A misdemeanor is a crime in which the range of punishment is 11 months and 29 days. The Tennessee legislature has graded the misdemeanors. We have more serious misdemeanors, which is a class A misdemeanor that's domestic assault, that's DUI, that's theft those types of charges are what's called a more serious misdemeanor or class A misdemeanor.

Then we have lesser misdemeanors called class B and class C. Class B is trespassing, possession of drug paraphernalia, things like that. Class C is the least one, littering, speeding, disorderly conduct, things of those natures. So we grade them in three levels, class A the most serious, class B the middle ground, and class C the lowest such as a speeding or littering ticket.
