What Does Statutory Rape Mean?

Statutory rape is a sex crime in which the age of the persons involved is a triggering factor. For example, if you're 21 and have even consensual sex with a 16-year old, you've just committed statutory rape. There's another type of statutory rape called aggravated statutory rape in which if there's a 10-year age difference greater. There's also a more serious crime is statutory rape by an authority figure. So there are three types of statutory rapes and they are something just solely about age limits. Everybody can consent to the sex act but just because of the age difference that makes it a problem.
