Tennessee law says that kidnapping has occurred when someone "knowingly removes or confines another (person) unlawfully so as to interfere substantially with the other's liberty." In fact, the definition is the same as that of false imprisonment, with the additional factor that kidnapping has been committed "under circumstances exposing the other person to substantial risk of bodily injury."
