Man Flips Car in Tennessee, Faces DUI Charges

An early morning car accident has led to charges for one man. The man wrecked the car on a Tennessee roadway and now faces DUI charges. The car accident and arrest happened on a Sunday morning.

According to reports, the man was driving and crossed the center line of the road at some point. This caused the car to roll into a ditch on the side of the road. The man was trapped in the car for a while, although it is unclear for how long or if he was injured or not.

Police freed the man from the vehicle. They then suspected he was impaired at the time of the car accident. He was arrested, but it is not clear what led to suspicions of drunk driving and if there were any sobriety tests conducted to potentially prove intoxication.

In a situation where a car accident leads to DUI charges, there may be the need for medical attention, and a person may not be able to do a field sobriety test at the scene of the crash. However, if a field sobriety test is conducted after an accident and DUI charges follow, the factors surrounding how the test was given can play a role in whether the test results can be effectively used in a criminal case. An experienced Tennessee legal representative can determine the circumstances surrounding a field sobriety test and whether or not those circumstances can ultimately lead to having those results discounted or dismissed as part of a DUI defense.
