There are two different major sex crimes in Tennessee. One is sexual battery and the other is rape. It is also defined by age; for example, sexual battery is the touching of a breast and other private parts. It is aggravated sexual battery if the child is 13 or under. So if you touch a 12-year-old you just committed statutory rape.
Rape can be accomplished also by two different ways, rape, aggravated rape, and then there's child rape. Rape is a class B felony and aggravated rape is a class A felony. Aggravated rape is where there's more than one person involved or they drugged someone or they used force, violence, coercion to have it.
